MEET SHAWN TINA
Shawn Tina Willis is a lower level comedy writer with the moxy of a producer. Showrunner’s Assistant in Writers’s Room & on-set, Shawn wrote the penultimate episode of THE GAME REBOOT, Paramount+’s fan-favorite half-hour dramedy. Shawn was raised in a progressive pocket of Georgia by Blackish Hillbillies. Her grandfather, a white-passing Pan Am-era Pilot, infused her coming-of-age summers with the hallelujah contrasts of life outside The South: Broadway! Martha’s Vineyard Inkwell fetes, Bat Mitzvahs & more…
Shawn’s sensibility is defined by distance from & proximity to blackish-ness — a mutability lived out -- which resists being “figured out.” A joyful, code-switching muppet, she finds freedom in rebellious movement away from any “black enough” narratives.
A Writer’s Room is Shawn’s natural habitat. It’s a mirror of her formative years as the scrappy lil’ energy bomb persuading a room to affirm her force of will and wiles. It’s really something to behold.
Shawn is not hard; she is funny. Anddd…. a little moody.
Her funny woman heroes?
Amy Sedaris & Tracee Ellis Ross.
